The brief required the development of a new and unique brand identity for a range of wiper blades and headlight bulbs, positioned at a mid-high tier price point. The goal was to create a brand that appealed to both mechanics and consumers, while also reflecting the eco-friendly nature of the packaging. Importantly, the brand name was to be abstract, avoiding direct references to the product itself, allowing for future expansion into other product lines. The brief also suggested that a German or German-sounding name could be advantageous, given the association with quality in the automotive market.
In response to this brief, I researched the existing brands and explored abstract-German sounding names before landing on EX-Zeller, as the word ‘Zeller’ is associated with precision in German but the brand name is also a play on the words ‘Stellar’ and ‘Excel’.
I created a minimalist logo, strapline and eco-friendly, packaging designs that separate the brand from competitors while reflecting its mid-high tier market position.
